BAXSQL v 0.9.0 (beta) is now available for testing

We have released a beta version (v. 0.9.0) of BAXSQL, a data management tool developed to support the management of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data sets in the Medical Grid Project (MGP) testbed.

MGP is happy to announce the release of BAXSQL v. 0.9.0 (beta). BAXSQL is a data management tool developed to support the management of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data sets in the Medical Grid Project (MGP) testbed. The package can be downloaded here. Please visit this site for installation instruction, coming up very soon!

Here is the summary of features included in this release:

  • Downloading an entire study is just a click away. Select the study of
interest and click the download button. All the files related to the study will be downloaded and stored in $HOME/baxsql/hostname/studyid directory.
  • Datasets can now be assigned to another study. Just edit the dataset and change the study id to the desired one.
  • There are also some changes in the GUI. Images can now be viewed one at a time from the menu command View/Image. It will display the local image slice-by-slice. Sorry, no 3D yet.
  • Basic image processing (realignment, smoothing, batch glm) is also now supported from within BAXSQL. The accuracy of the results have not been fully tested yet. This will also require access to remote analysis server, such as custer. medgrid.org, with the BAXGrid package installed.
  • There are also some changes in the database structure. The most notable is the gender field. As requested, a third entry was added, which is Unspecified. This option will be for the genderless.

For more details, read the user manual also available here. The manual is still not complete but it already covers the basic functions of BAXSQL.

Again, this is still a beta version. Expect some bugs. If you discover some, please let us know. If you also have suggestions to improve the application, please email it to me.
